Therapy Thursday

According to FuelEd,92% of educators said teaching is more stressful than ever. 48% of educators say they have considered leaving the field recently. 52% of educators say their workload is not sustainable.”

The cliche of “Be sure to practice self-care” is often carelessly thrown around by school administration, school counselors, and others linked to the education system and the question remains: “With all our responsibilities at both home and work, how are we to manage to take care of ourselves when the system monopolized our time and energy to the point of exhaustion.”

Taking care of ourselves is more than a day at the spa or time to ourselves. ① The first step in taking care of ourselves is to love ourselves. When you love something or someone, you take care of it/them. ② The second step would be to find a community of support who can help you navigate your way through your struggles. FuelEd is a community of educators just like yourself — “The tired you, the hopeful you, the preserving you. the overwhelmed you, the resilient you, the burnout you. The you that needs to be seen, relieved, and empowered during one of the most stressful seasons in the history of education.” Today, education is more stressful than ever before as we are required to wear so many hats beyond the “teacher hat” for which we signed up.

How does FuelEd Work?

I reached out to FuelEd. Here was their response: “Our programs are paid for by schools and districts, but we also offer free webinars and programming to teachers.” Ask your district if they are partnered with FuelEd. If so, ask how to access the resource. If not, check them out for their free resources. They are dedicated to educators. They may be able to help! You can also chat with someone and asked questions to drive you in the correct direction.

With a decade of experience, FuelEd provides support to you and many other teachers who are struggling, helping educators improve their emotional well-being, mental health, and relationship skills. They know you are passionate about teaching, but realize your emotional health must come first, and they have a plan to help! Take the first step in loving yourself and fill out this form with FuelEd to connect with a community that can help guide you to receive the help you need.

Note: Although it may seem like it, I am not profiting from this post. I simply found this resource and wanted to share it with the educator community. Consider sharing it with your district to get teachers the help they need. I am all about teacher mental health!

As teachers, we are often overworked and pulled in too many directions. We often put others before ourselves and it is hard to learn to take care of ourselves. Addressing mental health is part of self-care for our minds, bodies, and souls. Remember, if your cup is empty, you can’t fill someone else’s cup. Here are 27 FREE COUNSELING OPTIONS FOR
