World Geography

Engage your students in this European Union and Brexit lesson. This resource is designed to help your students learn and explore the pros and cons of Brexit. Students will cooperatively read about the European Union and Brexit and will write a letter to the European Union or the United Kingdom based on role cards that provide different scenarios of the U.K. requesting or being asked to rejoin the European Union.

OBJECTIVES:

The learner will understand the purpose of the European Union.
The learner will understand the reason behind the U.K. exiting the European Union.
The learner will become familiar with the location of countries that
have been or are currently part of the European Union.
The learner will act as the U.K. and write a letter to the EU requesting to rejoin or will act as the EU accepting or rejecting the U.K. readmission.
The learner will decipher the pros and cons of being a country member of the European Union.

MATERIALS:

Can the United Kingdom Rejoin the European Union after Brexit? Reading Activity, 3 copies per group
Current photos of the Prime Minister of the U.K. and the Head Chief of the European Union.
